Biostatus

Present in region - Indigenous. Non endemic
Description: Stromata: Stromata pulvinate (margins often slightly inrolled); confluent, or tightly aggregated, often crust-like; 3-;70 mm long; 3-70 mm broad; 1-4 mm thick; perithecia not visible; ostioles coarsely papillate; stromatal surface grey, purplish-grey, or buff, or dark brown (brown vinaceous), or blackish; tissue immediately below surface carbonaceous; KOH-extractable pigments lacking; tissue below perithecia disintegrating, stromata essentially hollow at maturity.
Perithecia: Perithecia more or less globose, or tubular; 0.5-1.2 mm diam.; 0.8-2 mm high.
Asci: Stipe short with spores filling about two-thirds of ascus; amyloid ring higher than broad.
Ascospores: Ascospores 35-54 µm long; 7.5-11 µm wide; brown; 0-septate; in side view inequilateral, flattened on one side, curved; in face view elliptic, or oblong-elliptic; ends narrowly rounded. Germ slit straight, less than spore-;length; on flattened side of spore. Perispore indehiscent in 10% KOH.
