Biostatus

Present in region - Indigenous. Endemic
Description: Stromata: Stromata pulvinate, or glomerate; 2-7 mm long; 2-7 mm broad; 0.8-1.5 mm thick; perithecia conspicuous, or about 1/3 exposed, or almost completely exposed; ostioles lower than or more or less equal to stromatal surface; stromatal surface dark brown (brown vinaceous); granules immediately below stromatal surface rust to orange, or red brown; KOH-extractable pigments yellowish-green, or bright yellow; tissue below perithecia inconspicuous.
Perithecia: Perithecia more or less globose; 0.3-0.5 mm diam.
Asci: Asci 145-170 µm long; 11-14.5 µm wide; stipe short with spores filling about two-thirds of ascus; amyloid ring broader than high.
Ascospores: Ascospores 17-23 µm long; 8-11 µm wide; brown; 0-septate; in side view more or less equilateral; in face view elliptic, or oblong-elliptic; ends broadly rounded. Germ slit straight, spore-length. Perispore indehiscent in 10% KOH.
