Notes: An undescribed Hypoderma sp. common on Nothofagus solandri, and perhaps restricted to this species. Ascomata developing in associated with round, black anamorph conidiomata within pale areas on fallen leaves, these areas sometimes surrounded by faint, usually incomplete, zone lines. Ascomata broad-elliptic with broadly rounded ends, single opening slit, lips cells poorly developed, pale grey. Ascospores 18-21 x 3.5-4.5 µm, shape distinctive, spores radially symmetrical, tapering to both ends, apiculate to apex, more or less acute to base, widest point in upper third, 0-septate, surrounded by thin gelatinous sheath.
Note: Previously reported as Hypoderma rubi. Unpublished DNA sequences confirm this is a species distinct from H. rubi. FOllowing recognition of this species, H. rubi is not known from Nothofagus.
