Outer surface of receptacle tight, compact; associated with some blackening of leaf surface,
but with no zones lines; ascospores about 19-22 x 4.5-5.5 µm; excipulum gelatinous; on M.
robusta and M. umbellata, primarily toward the south of the country.
Can be confused macroscopically with Lanzia berggrenii var metrosideri and sometimes
found mixed on same leaves. This second species with associated with complete, narrow,
black zone lines lines, but otherwise with no darkening of leaf surface; outer surface of
receptacle loose and shaggy; ascospores about 13-17 x 3.5-4.5 µm; excipulum nongelatinous;
on M. robusta and M. fulgens, primarily toward the north of the country.
