Article: Horak, E. (1973). Fungi Agaricini Novazelandiae I-V. Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia 43: 200 p. Description: Pileus
20-35 mm diam., persistently conical, always with sharp papilla, dark brown,
fading to beige, conspicuously zonate, lighter and darker zones alternating,
strongly fibrillose, dry, hygrophanous, estriate. Lamellae free or adnexed,
at first dark beige turning pink-brown, gill edge concolorous, even or scalloped,
densely crowded. Stipe 50-75 x 2-4 mm, cylindrical, concolorous or lighter than
the pileus, strongly fibrillose, dry, hollow, very brittle. Odor and taste not
distinctive.
Spores
9.5-11 x 7-8 µm, 6-angled. Basidia 35-45 x 12-13µm, 4-spored. Cystidia none.
Cuticle a cutis of repent or suberect, short cylindrical hyphae (6-20 µm diam.),
membrane thin-walled, hyaline, with brown plasmatic or vacuolar pigment. Clamp
connections absent. Habitat: Between
grasses in riverbeds, paddocks, etc. New Zealand. Notes: This
species is characterised by its conical pileus and the conspicuous concentric
zones which remain also visible in dried material.
Article: Horak, E. (1973). Fungi Agaricini Novazelandiae I-V. Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia 43: 200 p. Description: Pileus
25-60 mm diam., at first conical becoming convexo-umbonate or papillate, dark
brown, drying light brown with reddish tints, at centre squamulose, towards
the margin velvety or fibrillose, strongly striate, dry, hygrophanous. Lamellae
(L -30, 1 3), free, ventricose beige when young turning pinkish-brown, gill
edge concolorous. Stipe 40-80 x 2-6 mm, cylindrical or attenuated upwards, coloured
like pileus or paler, densely covered especially near the base) with white fibrils,
dry, fistulose, very brittle. Context dark brown, watery. Odor and taste not
distinctive.
Spores 9.5-12 x 6.5-8 µm, 5-6-angled. Basidia 35-45 x 10-13 µm, 4-spored. Cystidia
none. Cuticle a cutis or trichoderm of repent or semierect short cylindrical
hyphae (6-20 µm diam.), cells of subcutis inflated, membrane thin-walled, not
gelatinized, with brown, plasmatic pigment. Clamp connections absent. Habitat: On
soil in forests (under Nothofagus spp., Leptospermum spp., different
Podocarpaceae). New Zealand. Notes: This
species is related, through its general shape and colours, to E. porphyrescens
Hk. but differs in microscopical characters. The extremely striate pileus and
the brittle consistence of the carpophores are further typical features characterising
E. translucidum.
Article: Horak, E. (1973). Fungi Agaricini Novazelandiae I-V. Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia 43: 200 p. Description: Pileus
20-45 mm diam., campanulate or broadly umbonate, dark brown to date brown, fading
to grey-beige, finely wrinkled at the centre, more or less fibrillose towards
the substriate margin, dry. Lamellae free, beige at first turning brownish-pink,
gill edge white, scalloped, densely crowded. Stipe 30-45 x 2-7 mm, subclavate,
attenuated upwards, robust, concolorous with pileus or lighter, densely covered
by white fibrils, fistulose, dry. Context brownish, watery. Odor and taste not
distinctive.
Spores
9-10.5 x 6.5-8.5 µm, 5-angled. Basidia 32-38 x 12 µm, 4-spored. Cystidia lacking.
Cuticle a palisade or trichoderm of erect to suberect; short cylindrical hyphae
(12-20 µm diam.), membrane thin-walled not gelatinized, with brown, plasmatic
pigment. Clamp connections absent. Habitat: On
soil in forests (under Nothofagus spp.). New Zealand.
