Article: Horak, E. (1973). Fungi Agaricini Novazelandiae I-V. Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia 43: 200 p. Description: Pileus 10-20(-25 mm) diam., campanulate
to umbonate-plane, margin exceeding lamellae and incurved, deep blue, velvety
or fibrillose, dry, neither striate nor hygrophanous. Lamellae (L 12-16, 1 3)
adnexed, emarginate or decurrent (especially in aged carpophores), pink, with
concolorous gill edge. Stipe 20-80 x 2 mm, cylindrical, straight, deep blue,
densely covered by darker pustulate squamules or fibrils, dry. Context blue
(pileus, upper parts of stipe), whitish at the base of stipe. Odor and taste
strongly farinaceous.
Spores 10-12 x 6-8 µm, 5-6-sided. Basidia
30-45 x 10-12 µm, 4-spored. Cystidia none. Cuticle a trichoderm of short cylindrical
hyphae (10-20 µm diam.), terminal cells conically tapering, membrane thin-walled
and not gelatinzed, with brown (in KOH) plasmatic pigment. Clamp connections
present. Habitat: On
soil among mosses in forests (under Nothofagus spp., Dacrydium cupressinum).
New Zealand. Notes: The
type collection of E. strictum is in very poor condition so that only
the size and shape of the spores could be observed of it. The other observations
used in the description were made on a fresh collection, which corresponded,
in all essential characters with Stevenson's diagnosis
