Article: Horak, E. (1973). Fungi Agaricini Novazelandiae I-V. Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia 43: 200 p. Description: Pileus
6-20 mm diam., hemispherical or convex when young becoming depressed or umbilicate
at the centre, margin incurved, deep blue, covered by black or concolorous squamules
or fibrils, dry, not striate. Lamellae (L 8-15, 1 1-3) adnexed or adnate, sometimes
subdecurrent with short tooth, whitish at first, turning pink, gill edge concolorous
and not fimbriate. Stipe 20-50 x 1-3 mm, cylindrical, slender, blue, with white
weft of mycelium at the base, glabrous, dry, fistulose. Context blue underneath
the cuticle. Odor and taste not distinctive or slightly farinaceous only.
Spores
9-11.5 x 6.5-8 µm, 5-6-sided. Basidia 25-30 x 10 µm, 4-spored. Cheilocystidia
consisting of fasciculate chains of cylindrical cells, terminal cells clavate
or cylindrical (15-75 x 6-10 µm), pigment absent. Pleuro- and caulocystidia
absent. Cuticle a cutis of suberect, fasciculate, cylindrical hyphae (4-10 µm
diam.), membrane thin-walled, not gelatinized, with grey, plasmatic pigment.
Clamp connections absent. Habitat: On
soil in forests (under Nothofagus spp., Podocarpus spp., Dacrydium
cupressinum). New Zealand.
Article: Horak, E. (1973). Fungi Agaricini Novazelandiae I-V. Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia 43: 200 p. Description: Pileus
20-50 mm diam., convex or campanulate with distinct umbilicus or at least depression
at the centre, margin incurved and striate, dark brown-blue or black-blue, velvety
or finely squamulose all over, dry, not hygrophanous. Lamellae (L 12-20, 1-7),
emarginate and slightly decurrent with short tooth, greenish-bluish when young,
turning pinkish-blue or pinkish-brown, gill edge fimbriate and blue coloured.
Stipe 25-55 x 2-4 mm, cylindrical or attenuated upwards, curved, sometimes eccentric,
blue or greenish-blue at the apex, bluish-green or bluish-olive towards the
base which is often covered with the white weft of mycelium, dry, stuffed or
fistulose, glabrous. Context blue, greenish-blue at the base. Chem. reactions:
HCl on pileus - lilac, KOH - negative. Odor and taste not distinctive.
Spores 9.5-11 x 6.5-8.5 µm. 5-6-angled. Basidia 32-50 x 10-12 µm, 4-spored.
Cheilocystidia 35-80 x 7-18 µm, clavate or cylindrical, thin-walled, with bluish
plasmatic pigment, dense clusters forming the sterile zone at the gill edge.
Pleuro- and caulocystidia none. Cuticle a trichoderm of suberect or erect, clavate
hyphae (terminal cells 35-80 x 15-20 µm), apically rounded membrane thin-walled,
not gelatinized, with blue plasmatic pigment. Clamp connections absent. Habitat: On
soil (under Beilschmidia tawa, Nothofagus spp., Podocarpus
spp.) or on rotten wood or debris (of Nothofagus spp. and Dicksonia
spp.). New Zealand Notes: This
species is characterized by its green-blue stipe (the colour may fade in aged
specimens but is still recognisable in the context of the stipe), the blue coloured
gill edge and the large spores.
Article: Horak, E. (1973). Fungi Agaricini Novazelandiae I-V. Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia 43: 200 p. Description: Pileus
12-25 mm diam., convex to umbilicate, central depression distinct, beige or
bluish-grey, densely covered with fuligineous or dark blue squamules, especially
around the centre, margin strongly striate, hygrophanous, membranous. Lamellae
(L 8-12, 1 3-4) emarginate, with red coloured, fimbriate gill edge. Stipe 20-35
x 1-2 mm, cylindrical, blue, with white weft at the base, smooth, fistulose.
Odor and taste not distinctive.
Spores
10-12 x 7-8 µm, 5-6-angled. Basidia 24-30 x 9 µm, 4-spored. Cheilocystidia 40-95
x 5-14 µm, clavate, thin-walled membrane, with brown plasmatic pigment. Pleuro-
and caulocystidia none. Cuticle a cutis or loose trichoderm of suberect, short,
cylindrical hyphae (5-20 µm diam.), terminal cells subclavate, with brown, plasmatic
pigment. Clamp connections absent. Habitat: On
or among litter of tree-fern (Dicksonia spp., Cyathea spp.). New
Zealand.
