glabrous, pallid or whitish, often variegated with red or yellow stains, 2-3.5 cm. across; gills
free, broadest behind, rather distant, white ; spores 4-5 x 3 µ, stem 3-6 cm. long, about 2 mm.
thick, often slightly thinner downwards, pallid, stuffed, then hollow. Habitat: Among fallen leaves, in woods, &c. Distribution: Dannevirke, New Zealand. Australia, Europe. Notes: Distinguished by being altogether white or pallid, although the pileus is usually more or less
stained with red or yellow, and by the pale pileus being depressed round the small obtuse
umbo.

The fragments of this collection (COLENSO b 741) are in poor condition but
sufficient to confirm the identification. The spores are subglobose, smooth,
pinkish, 7-8 X 5.5-7 µ.
