Description: Collybia readii Stevenson (29 D) Fig. 23 = Calocybe readii (Stevenson) comb. nov. (Basionym: C. readii Stevenson, Kew Bull. 19: 9, 1964)
Spores elliptical or slightly subamygdaliform, hyaline, neither amyloid nor dextrinoid, smooth, 4-5 X 2-2.5 µ. Cystidia none. Cuticle a cutis consisting of repent, cylindrical, thin-walled, non. gelatinised hyphae, clamp connections present.

Description: Pileus 2-6 cm diam., dull pink, plano-convex, large specimens becoming irregularly lobed, margin exceeding gills, waxy at first, drying paler and becoming matt; flesh white, tough in texture. Gills adnate, occasionally slightly decurrent, creamy, thin, crowded. Stipe 3-6 x 0.5-1 cm, dull pink, regular or grooved or flattened, smooth, hollow, tapering to somewhat bulbous base. Spores 5 x 2-2.5 µm, non-amyloid, hyaline, thin-walled (Fig. 17). Cuticle of woven hyphae interspersed with stellate crystals (examination of dried material).
Habitat: Rooting in litter, Nelson, 23.4.1956, D. Read in Stevenson (type).
