Urediniospores subglobose to elliptical, 28–36 × 24–30 μm, coarsely and sparsely echinulate, hyaline. Distribution: Distribution: Fiordland, Southland, Stewart Island.; 1st Record: Sydow & Sydow (1907).

bullate, golden-brown, long covered. Spores subglobose or elliptical, 28-35 X 24-28 mmm.;
epispore hyaline, coarsely and sparsely echinulate, 4-5 mmm. thick, cell-contents granular,
orange; germ-pores indistinct. Notes: The host is endemic, and is confined to the southern part of the South Island and to Stewart
Island. (Cheeseman, 1906, p. 281.)
This species is characterized by the thick, coarsely and sparsely echinulate epispore, and by
the epiphyllous covered sori.
