Article: Dingley, J.M. (1969). Records of plant diseases in New Zealand. New Zealand Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Bulletin 192: 298 p. Wellington:. Notes: Sclerotinia gladioli is common as a corm rot of Gladiolus throughout New Zealand. As it
causes a basal rot of stems and leaves as well as a dry rot of bulbs, it is of importance in
commercial plantings of Gladiolus (Salinger, 1965a). Reasonable control can be obtained
if crop rotation is practiced and bulbs are carefully sorted and clipped in a mercurial
fungicide before planting.
