PhaeomarasmiusNotesPhaeomarasmius and Flammulaster are morphologically and biologically similar, both small, brown-spored mushrooms saprobic on dead wood and rotting leaves. The genera are distinguished by subtle differences in pileipellis structure.
Several of the New Zealand species are found also in South America. Five species have been reported from New Zealand, only those listed below have descriptions or images available from NZFungi.
