Genera of PORE FUNGI (POLYPORES ETC)

Description: Included in this Group are the large bracket fungi, but also those crust fungi which have pores on the fertile surface. These can be difficult to see, and a hand-lens helps. These fungi are almost all found on wood, and most are active wood-rotters Taxonomic changes over the past few years have resulted in a large number of genera in this group, many of which contain very few species. Only those genera for which a macroscopic image is available are listed here. Excluded from this Group are the fleshy mushroom-like fungi with pores (the Boletes and Favolaschia).
