Genera of
EARTH TONGUES AND JELLY BABIES
Description: Fungi related to the discomycetes, but with upright, narrow fruiting bodies. Always on the ground.
The earth tongues are usually black in colour. Superficially similar in shape to some of the coral fungi, but the coral fungi are usually brighter in colour, and have more delicate flesh, being easily squashed unless picked up with care.
The 'jelly babies' are green or yellow in colour, and have a distinct stalk with a knob-like top.
