BIRDSNEST FUNGI
Description: Highly specialised, cup-like fruiting bodies with the spores enclosed in hard-walled pellets called peridioles. The top of the cup is covered when young. Water splashes into the cup, propelling the peridioles into the air.
Saprobes on plant liltter, sometimes on wood chip mulches.
