umbilicate or funnel-shaped, 1.5-2.5 cm. across ; gills decurrent, rather distant and broad,
edge quite entire, interstices even; spores pip-shaped, hyaline, 6 x 4 µ; stem 2.5-5 cm. long,
very slender, with a tawny or rufescent tinge, base with pale down, rooting. Habitat: On rotten logs. Distribution: Forest of Tehawera, Northern Island, New Zealand. Notes: Solitary, or frequently 2-5 plants springing in a caespi-tose manner. Rigid when dry. Not a
typical Lentinus, on account of the entire edge of the gills.
